Designing better mental healthcare facilities

Kingsway Group to showcase Award short-listed products at DiMH 2019

Kingsway Group as thought-leaders in the design and manufacture of complete anti-ligature doorsets for mental health environments will be showcasing their new developments which have been shortlisted for the Design in Mental Health Awards.

As the Main Event Sponsor Kingsway Group will have a spacious stand to provide visitors a wide range of new and concept anti-ligature doorsets to view, the doorsets will represent the latest in collective design expertise for mental health environments and are care-pathway focused to provide a clear solution to the distinct needs of the various patient groups.

The Switch anti-barricade door system has been short-listed in the Product Innovation of the Year category, the Switch anti-barricade system is a completely fresh approach to providing safe entry to a room when the door has been barricaded and moves the risk to the staff member from standing in the barricade ‘red zone’ on the opening side of the door and allows them to stand in the safer ‘green-zone’ on the hinge side of the door.  The Switch anti-barricade system also allows for a standard frame design and de-clutters the door from having unsightly removable door stops.

The Sensory doorway is a design collaboration between IBI Group architects and Kingsway Group to provide a doorway suitable for dementia patients that facilitates engagement and meaningful activity, the benefits of this new doorway for dementia have meant that it is short-listed for the ‘Concept Product Innovation of the Year’ award.   The Sensory dementia doorway has been externally assessed by leading dementia design authorities and is going to be an exciting exhibit on the 2019 DiMH stand!

Other products and solutions that will be displayed will be the Paxton Net2 integration and how Kingsway Group can fulfil the hardware requirements using their ‘Smart’ access control system and deliver a seamless door and access control package that has been crafted for mental health environments, the key elements it includes are: door top monitoring, vision panel audit trail, door locking and un-locking – integration with other 3rd party staff attack alarm systems are also available.

As a visitor to the Kingsway Group stand at DiMH 2019 you will be able to understand the latest challenges regarding anti-ligature doorsets and consult with the Kingsway staff about your design requirements.  We look forward to working with you to create a collaborative solution that moves towards our mutual goal of safer and supportive mental health spaces.
